Tell us about yourself: who you are, where you’re from, what you do.
My name is Morgan, I currently live in Keene, NH. and I am the leader of a folk-music collective called The Mild Revolution, which is made up of many musicians but specifically Matthew Caputo, Adam Hogue, Dan O’Rourke, and Tim Stone.
What’s your major and what do you intend to do with it?
I am currently an American Studies major… And I plan on graduating with that degree, but right now those are my only plans to do anything with it.
What is your day job?
I work at a local Theater in Keene, where I am as we speak. Mostly I just sit at a computer and answer phone calls.
When/how did you first become interested in music?
My father, he was always playing guitar around the house and we used to go to a lot of parties where he and his friends would play around a camp fire. That’s where I learned how to play music, and I think why I play folk music now.
What was your first band and how did you get involved with it?
My first band was called Subjection Casual, with my brother Zachary, Jory Caron, Ryan Lewis, Josh Martin, and Brian Shea. We were like kinda poppy-indie-synth rock. I don’t remember how we started but I remember we were first called Daybreak or something like that, but we found out that like 20 other bands already had that name.
How would you describe your style?
New-Grass-folk-rock-singer-songwriter-stoner-drunk person music.
When did you first start playing under the name The Mild Revolution? How did you come up with the name?
Around 2007. When Subjection Casual ended I was still playing solo shows but I was too afraid that no one would show up if it just said Morgan Little on the poster. The name comes from my brother, I think it was originally a name he wanted to use for something but I ended up stealing it. The term, I think, comes from a comparison between John Adams and Thomas Jefferson. But for Me “The Mild Revolution” is more about failed promises.
How did you meet your band members and how long have you been playing together?
Matt Caputo and I met about two years ago in Carle Hall on the Keene State Campus, we started playing together I think the night we met. He and I have a great way of playing together and I think it shows on stage, I think our confidence in each other is what makes people think we’ve been playing together for longer than we have. The rest of the guys I met through the very tight-nit circle that is the Keene Music Scene. There are many great musicians in Keene and we are always looking for people to play with.
What is your favorite song to perform live?
I don’t have one, I have some favorites like “The Workin’ Man Blues”, “Scenery” and a few others but it is really always changing for me. I have also been lucky while in Keene, to always be writing music. So many of the shows I play have different atmospheres and feelings, so sometimes my least favorite song normally becomes my favorite song of the night.
Which instruments do you play? Are there any that you would like to learn?
I can play guitar, piano, bass, mandolin, harmonica, uke, banjo and a few others.
Whenever people ask me what instrument I want to learn I always say either trumpet or violin.
I once described your band is kind of a modern twist on the caravanserai style in that it changes subtly performance to performance depending on which band members and instruments are available. Is that something you ever consciously considered or merely a matter of convenience?
It was 100% a conscious decision. The idea behind The Mild Revolution is that, yeah, certain musicians are set in stone but the main point is that we are never held to one formula. The more we change, the more we grow. I don’t want to play one show with some people then the next night play a show with completely different people but I like to keep it fresh, I think that is why our live show is something people stay interested in (hopefully).

Victor, Idaho.
Where would you like to perform that you have not yet had the opportunity to?
Anywhere the people listen to the music.
