Last Wednesday, Ariescope released their annual Halloween short, Don’t Do It!, starring Chase Williamson (JOHN DIES AT THE END, THE GUEST) and Sid Haig (THE DEVIL’S REJECTS, JACKIE BROWN).
Goes to show what can be accomplished in a single setting with two actors, a Halloween costume, some Halloween decorations, and a pumpkin. The influence of a professional production company is evident but the script would have worked with what most of us have around the house.
Don’t Do It! is a unique take on the pumpkin-carving sub-genre, hearing from both carver and carvee. There is a rise in tension as we must decide who to root for. Helpless pumpkin or knife-wielding maniac? Well-intentioned human or big orange gourd? Who will win? You’ll have to watch to find out.
